Hello again! Now that we've met, this is the time to bring to your attention a service that we (and our other customers) have found very useful, namely our Remote Control service. When you contact us for the first time, it will usually be because some equipment of yours has malfunctioned or died, and needs replacing. So this will mean that we come to your house and do whatever is necessary to repair the fault as efficiently as possible. Or perhaps we're there to install something new you may have. While we are there, we'll also be determining your level of familiarity with computers. This is so that we can offer you advice in a way that you'll be able to understand, but also as a way of saving money for you and time for both of us in the future. A lot of the time, it isn't a physical repair or installation of equipment that's needed, but software to be altered / updated / installed, or a virus scan to be performed, perhaps. Maybe software has been damaged by a virus and needs a reinstall. Well, we don't usually have to be there for that. If you have a functioning internet connection, and it's only a software problem, then we can fix the machine by Remote Control. All it needs is for you to have a small program on your computer. When you need us, you call us on the phone to set up the session. We then ask you to run the program, and we are then able to take control of your machine as if we were sitting at it! Once we have finished, you close the program, which ends the session. You have full control of the machine at all times. We can't access until you allow it, and we can't stay connected after you end it. Since we don't have to come to you, this saves time, and therefore, money. There are two different charge schemes. The first time you use this service you pay a one-off fee (currently £45), after which you can continue to pay a one-off 'per incident' fee. Or, you can pay a monthly fee (£15) and then you'll be able to use the Remote Control system as often as needed, within reason. Obviously you'll need some way of being able to pay online, too! Once the job is completed, you'll be sent a link to our checkout with the fee preloaded, just like any other online purchase. You can use any widely available credit / debit card. Of course, there may well be times when we have to visit you after all, once we have established by Remote Control that you have a problem that can't be fixed remotely. In this case we just charge a nominal £5 Remote Control fee and charge our normal visiting rates. Run the program to install it. It's then ready when needed. Make sure that you save the icon for it somewhere it's easily noticed.
