HCR Laptop & Modem Offers

Use this page if you want to buy your own laptops, and then get the 3 modem dongles as well

We use mobiles (mostly LG) from the 3 Network. We also use laptops. Recently, we started using the 3 broadband modems. So if we are anywhere there is a phone signal, we can connect to the internet, even from the middle of a field, if needed. No more paying fantastic wifi hotspot fees. Even a year ago this option would have been far too expensive, but now there's a price war going on between all the big networks. Unless you're a heavy user, you could find that this connection is all you need, to the point where you don't need a home phone line of any kind at all. That's something worth thinking about!

Here at HCR Towers we were a bit sceptical at first, but now we'd be lost without it. We now find ourselves doing most of our work on our laptops, and whilst we gratefully accept a nice, fast wired or wireless network to connect to when there's one available (our laptops will connect to pretty much anything), these modems are perfect for those other times. Anywhere you can get a phone signal you're in business. You literally just plug it in to the USB port of your machine, it installs itself, you reboot - maybe - and you're in business. The modems here are functionally identical. So now you could send the wife an email saying 'Hi honey I'm on the train', not that you'd be so crass, would you?

Did we mention that if you're already a 3 customer, some of these modem deals are half price? No? Well, what better time could there be to get yourself a new phone on the 3 network and afterwards get one of these modem deals, which will then be stupidly cheap, at half price. In fact, so much so that it would be rude not to take up the offer.

So, if it's mobile phones you're after, click here for our 3 phone offers, which are regularly updated for the best offers available. And then come back!

Below are, we think, the best USB Modems, with the most useful download allowances that 3 give.

Huawei E160G Stick USB Modem
Get freedom from wires and hotspots and super quick access to the Internet and your email. Our hottest new dongle comes in black and white, and has a MicroSD memory card slot, so it can double up as a memory stick.

The E160G is an even simpler plug and play dongle, as it’s preloaded with the new Birdstep dashboard, which gives you a link from their desktop straight through to My3 and a broadband dashboard which automatically updates itself to a new version when available.

Everything auto-installs so you get on the web even quicker than before. And when you're in a Turbo Network you can get broadband internet access speeds of up to 3.6MBps.

To use your sleek Stick USB Modem you'll need a few things. Your computer or laptop needs a minimum of 50MB hard disk space, 1 free USB port, a Windows 2000, XP, Vista or and Mac OSX operating system. And the great user-friendly Modem Manager interface not only manages your connection, it displays all the messages you receive on your mobile broadband number. You can even reply to your text messages while logged in. Here's what we reckon are the 2 best deals. The difference is 5Gb download on the right and 15Gb on the left!

We use Sony Vaio laptops. There are cheaper that seem better. But these have serious build quality. And we love them. And give them names. Here's a selection from our store. Use these with the modems above to unchain yourself from the desk forever!
